Eight hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, you will reach Kuala Besut, where there is a jetty for you to take a 30 minute boat ride to the world-famous Pulau Perhentian. Pulau Perhentian is situated just off Kuala Besut, Terengganu, in the east coast part of Peninsular Malaysia. There are two parts of Pulau Perhentian, which are Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil. One can get to Pulau Perhentian by taking a bus from the Hentian Bas Putra to Kuala Besut, where the bus stops directly at the Jetty. It only cost Rm40 for a one way ticket, so it is the cheapest option for an island lover to get him or herself there, and also the best option for those on a budget.
Once you are there, there are various chalets that one can choose from, depending on the budget. The prices ranges from as low as RM25 to RM160 per night, depending on the type of accomodation they opt for. the boat ride only costs RM70 for a return ticket. Omce you are close to the island, the boat will stop and you will be picked up by a water taxi, as the bigger boats are not allowed to sail closer to the shore as it will damage the precious and beautiful coral bays. But most of the chalets there are powered by generator for their electicity, so the electircity power is only available from 7pm to 8am.
There are variety of food that can be found here, from delicious and very fresh seafood to western and local cuisines. Other than its beautiful white sandy beaches to the clear blue water, Pulau Perhentian is also famous for the beach scenes, where the beach is very alive with its various activities from te tourists here. They also offer various offshore activities, such as snorkelling, diving, banana boat ride and many more. A breath taking beach with sands that felt like powder or flour.Clear sea that lets us realise we were actually swimming with the jellyfishes.
