MEMORIES IN LANGKAWI

by Roshan

Last month me and my group of friends planned to go to Langkawi for the holidays. We planned to stay there for 5 days and 4 nights. We were actually planning for this trip since last year as we have not gone out for a holiday yet. There were 7 of us all-together in the group all guys as you can see in the pictures. We travelled there by bus and ferry which saved our cost because we were actually thinking of taking a flight which would cost way more expensive compared to bus and ferry.

On the first day, we took a bus from the Pudu Raya station in Kuala Lumpur straight to Kuala Kedah where the jetty is located. The journey took at least about 6 hours drive. When we reached the jetty point at Kuala Kedah,we had to take the ferry straight to Langkawi island which took at least about an hour on the boat. We were really excited and couldn’t wait to reach at our destination. As soon as we reached there, we rented a van for ourselves because it would be more convinient for us to travel anywhere and anytime we want instead of taking a cab or a bus. We stayed at Marina Beach Resort which was located at Pantai Chenang. Pantai Chenang is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Langkawi. As soon as we checked in our rooms,we unpacked our bags and then headed to Langkawi town which is known as Kuah town. We went there to get our grocerries, food and drinks. We were so excited because we are going to be staying at Langkawi for a week.

On the second day, when we woke up looking at the sun rising brightly at the sky, we taught of going for island hopping. Island hopping is where the boatman will take you to three different islands in a speed boat. Doesn’t that sound interesting?. So about 11 in the morning, we went on the boat and headed to the first island which was called as Pulau Dayang Bunting. The island is actually about a pregnant lady who died in that particular island as you can see in the picture her body structure on the mountain. We spent about 45 minutes in that island swimming and having a long journey walk around the island. After that, the boatman took us to the eagle feeding island where the boatman will throw a few pieces of chicken skins into the water, then you can see eagles surrounding the island will come and feed on the chicken skins. Lastly, the boatman took us to a private island which is known as Beras Basah where we could spend at least an hour or more snorkelling and swimming. After when we were done, we went back to our rooms and took our most refreshing baths since we were out since morning.bunting

Days went by so fast and by just a glance, it’s already the third day of us being in Langkawi. We all woke up really late because we had a  long day the previous day. As soon as we woke up,  we went to the nearest restaurant and had our lunch. You must be wondering why are we having our lunch when we woke up? It is because we woke up at 3 o’ clock in the afternoon feeling hungry and weak. After a good lunch, we went for a swim at the sea under the bright sun as our skins were “so fair”. On that night, we decided to go clubbing as many people were talking about a club which is known as Sunba. So, we went there and had loads of fun dancing and drinking. After clubbing, we came back to our rooms and had after party sessions where we had dancing and drinking competitions among us. As time passed by, all of us were really hungry,so we decided to buy some roti canai basah at the nearest 24 hour restaurant nearby our place and we ate like we haven’t seen food for ages.

The next day which was  the forth day in Langkawi was a fun day as well. We spent most of the time playing cards and just being around our rooms and the beach. We went for banana boat ride which was

extremely fun because all of us got thrown out from the boat in the middle of the sea. After that we came back to our rooms and took a rest. In the evening, we went to Kuah town to do some shopping for our relatives and friends. We bought a lot

of chocolates and key chains for our friends as they already gave their orders before even we left to Langkawi. After shopping, we went and have our dinner at a chinese restaurant . After dinner, we came bac to our rooms and layyed our heads on the pillow and we were talking about the good times we had for the past few days back. It ‘s sad knowing that we are leaving the next day but we can always do this anytime we want but the only thing missing would be our memories that we had shared together.

going back time..at the jettyFinally on the last day, we all woke up and was smilling to each other and was hoping that this was the first day in Langkawi. We packed our bags and checked out from our rooms. We headed to the jetty and took the ferry about 1 p.m and then as soon as we reached the bus terminal, we took the bus straight to Kuala Lumpur and we reached Pudu Raya station about 8 p.m. In my opinion, this trip was one of the best trip with my friends so far and it has not only built a bond between us but also built a good understanding and trust that now we know where we stand among all of us.
